Today, my blog was hacked. I won’t say who it was because mostly it doesn’t really bother me. They used an exploit in Wordpress where you can create a URL to send a reset password request to an email for the first user in the database. And so the admin password was changed and they defaced the homepage (index.php). No big deal. The guy who defaced the site also defaced roughly 400 other Wordpress blogs. It wasn’t anything personal. I’m sure he just had a robot checked versions of Wordpress on sites and then working his magic (If thats what you want to call it). Anyways, hopefully the site is in the clear. Guess that’ll teach me to always keep Wordpress updated.

Side note: Wordpress was 2.8.4 on this site and another site I’ve been working on so makes me wonder if it’s a new exploit based off the old or if the old was every fully fixed…

Okay so… here’s the skinny. They run hot first of all, perform very well stock, but the piece of hell I got (eVGA 8800GTX KO ACS3 Edition) ran hotter than hades and artifacted at stock clocks! Could possibly be because under load it ran 85ºC so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. I’ve done some bios tweaking and flashed the bios on this card a few times and the best I’ve gotten with my custom bios @ 1.3v is 650/1460/2000. Plays crysis decent, but still a little dissapointing since the damn thing was expensive. Anyway, save yourself the money, get a good 8800GTS (built on the G92 instead of G80 like the GTX), it will run cooler, consume less power, and you can overclock the piss out of it to make up for the lack of shaders (96 vs 128 like the gtx) as well as the 320 bit memory bus instead of 384 bit like the GTX. I’ve got the video card water cooled with a danger den 8800gtx water block and it tops out at 60ºC under load now, then the water hits the e6600 (soon to be SLACR G0 Q6600) @ 3.2ghz on 1.375v. Ordered a 3×120mm radiator to add onto the 2×120 I have now, along with 5 110CFM 120mm fans to mount. I also have like 5 150cfm 120×120x38mm fans, but will only use one inside the case… they’re a little dangerous, I’ve almost cut my finger off a few times, but boy do they blow some air. Anyway, anyone looking at overclocking on a 650i or 680i chipset, stay away, get a p35, the 650/680 will perform like a bat out of hell, but the chipsets run hotter than hell and will require active heatsinks to be able to do anything with them. Also, keep in mind, I still have my e6600 for sale, it’s a core 2 duo 2.4ghz 1066FSB chip, oem, works like a champ, typing on the computer running right now until my q6600 gets here. If you have any overclocking questions, you know who to talk to…

Hax
